Poster, Art Print Publisher cum Artist Marta Gottfried Wiley was born in Mexico. She was born to an award winning artist's family who had famous artist visiting their homes ever since her childhood. This gave her a unique chance to develop as an artist in the very early years of her life. Her tryst with various cultural Mecca gave her an even more clarity in her thoughts and made her mature enough at a very young age. She comes from the same small place where Diego Rivera and Frieda Kahlo painted and created master art works.
Marta was guided and trained art by her grandmother who was also an award winning artist recognized by the Government of Mexico. She there on went to study art in Mexico then Miami and later Florida where she attended Art school and focuses on art, philosophy and music. She later pursued her degree in arts from Otis Parson School of Design. It was as early as her school days that she started to sell her art paintings, designs, posters and art prints in trade shows, art galleries, and also licensed them through art prints and posters publications which were distributed for the wall art market throughout the world. Marta today owns her own poster and art prints publishing company which allows her to distribute, sell and market her art paintings, posters, art prints, music, murals, wall art, dressings and apparels.
Critically acclaimed and awarded writer, artist Matra Gotterfried has written hundreds of famous songs, painted thousands of art works, printing millions of posters and fine art prints grossing her millions of rupees in sales through licensing and profit sharing. Marta has now launched a publishing company that sells all her work, the profits of which are donated to a charity foundation. Her talent does not hold her to one medium as she is acclaimed for her work as a painter, artist, writer, musician, fashion designer and a model as she not only participated but also won Miss Mexico title for her looks and credibility she carried along with her. There is no doubt in the fact that only a few artists can ever achieve such a diverse feat and Marta is already on the peak of her achievements.
During her formative years as an art student Marta once had her Heart Brocken which gave her an opportunity to paint on a bare canvas using all her natural emotions and outburst. To her disbelief she had painted a masterpiece which was recognized as God's Soul. Later using mixed media art she painted Women and Figurative art which featured women running in chaos touching the eyes of god and curl around in ecstasy. One of her most famous art work is a Black horse painting Lepa Zena which is regarded as a symbol of success, power and money. The art prints of horse and posters are a best seller in china and India as you can find them as a favourite for people to decorate their walls and also meet up with vaastu Shasta art and feign shui tradition.

What are the laws concerning creating a painting / work of art from an already published photograph?
If an artist were to do a painting of a well known photograph, would he get into any legal copyright trouble trying to sell his representation of that image?
Oh yeah, LOTS of trouble! Even if it was not a well known photographer/photograph! All rights of ANY photograph (even unpublished) belongs to the photographer. It’s their artwork. There are people who do copy photographs in artwork, and some get away with it, but its still illegal to do. Sometimes you can get permission from the Photographer to reproduce their image, but that can get really tedious. It’s sort of like someone asking you to reproduce one of your original paintings, you probably wouldn’t be interested. I have heard of photographers who offer their original photos to artists, there's usually a release form of some kind. The Artists Magazine has some ad’s in the back of each issue that offer some photo ref’s. There are good Artist Reference books available too, you can check them out at the Library if you don’t want to invest in one, and you can always copy your own photographs.
I had an assignment in College to copy a famous contemporary painting. But we were given strict guidelines as to what we could do with it afterwards, I sold it at some cheesy art sale at the University, but I had to give credit to the original artist and had to clearly disclose that it was a COPY of HIS work. But that was several years ago, I don't think I’d do it again, there was just too much gray area to worry about. I also copied a drawing years ago, just for practice, it came out so good, but I can’t do anything with it (other then hang it in my own home) I can’t sell it, reproduce it, show it or even give it away, because it was of someone else’s work.
There are ways of sneaking around it, but it's not worth it.
